We Fight For Victims Of Sexual Abuse

For two decades, attorneys Rebecca Randles and Tahira Khan Merritt have represented adult and child victims of sex crimes in civil cases against various corporations and institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, both public and private, religious organizations, such as the Catholic Church, the Baptist Church, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Episcopal Church, and the Presbyterian Church among others. We have also represented victims of rape in youth sports organizations, youth camps, day-cares, and the like.

Over $200 Million In Compensation Won For Victims Of Sexual Abuse

Attorney Rebecca M. Randles provides representation to clients nationally. She focuses her practice primarily on assisting people who have been the victims of sexual abuse, abuse by clergy and other enabling institutions and psychiatric malpractice.

She has been instrumental in obtaining numerous settlements and jury awards on behalf of her clients, including two settlements for victims of clergy abuse for $10 million and $9.5 million and a $1.1 million arbitration award for the breach of the non-monetary commitments found in those agreements. She has been successful in matters against the Catholic Church, federal government agencies, police departments, schools and municipalities.

Attorney Tahira Khan Merritt has devoted her career entirely to helping victims of sexual abuse and their families, both in Texas and across the entire nation. She and her team handle matters exclusively related to civil lawsuits against organizations and institutions that have allowed sexual abuse to occur and then attempted to cover it up.

She is successful because her clients can and do trust her and her team. They rely on her ethics and experience to handle their cases. Equally important, they trust that she will treat them with dignity and respect, always putting their interests foremost.

In the interest of achieving closure for several of her clients, Ms. Merritt assisted the criminal justice system in the prosecution of their abusers. In one case, for example, she was appointed Special Prosecutor by the District Attorney of Eastland County, Texas. The perpetrator-priest was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison. Few, if any, sexual abuse attorneys in the nation can claim such cooperation, thoroughness and tenacity on behalf of their clients.

“I asked Ms. Merritt how she could continue to do this work, time and time again, and her reply was, ‘If this had happened to my child I would want someone like me to be there for him.’” — Client testimonial, abused at age 9

Get Peace of Mind In Knowing You Have An Advocate In Your Corner

Sexual abuse cases are unlike any other type of personal injury cases. Victims are harmed in the most intimate ways and betrayed by people they trusted completely, which is why many are reluctant to seek the assistance of a lawyer. Some victims take years, even decades, to trust anyone enough to talk about what happened to them.

We understand that sharing the details of a personal and terrifying experience in your life is neither easy nor comfortable. At our law firm, we make getting legal help a positive experience for you.
